VOLUNTEERING AT GRANDVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Would you like to help Grandview Elementary School become an even better place for students to learn?  Become a volunteer!

HISTORY:

The volunteer program at Grandview started when Mr. Starnes and Mrs. Simpkins agreed that the more parents and community
members were involved with education, the better the students would perform.  Mrs. Ratterman, a parent of two children at Grandview, was asked to coordinate the volunteer program.  By November of 2008, the program was created and in just six months over 500 volunteer hours were logged.  Over 3,000 volunteer hours were logged for the 2008-2009 school year!

Many of the tasks the volunteers help perform are very time consuming.  Because of the volunteer program, teachers are able to devote even more time for instruction and working individually with students.    This has a direct impact on student and school performance.

Grandview volunteers help in many areas such as:

Copy Room

Cafeteria

Library

Computer Lab

Classrooms

Field Trips

Bulletin Boards

Fall Festival

Guest Reader

Box Tops

Campbell's Labels

HOW DO I VOUNTEER?

Who can join the volunteer team at Grandview?  We welcome all parents, guardians, relatives, neighbors, community members, etc.  If you have a passion for children and their future, you have what it takes to volunteer.  Volunteer Information Forms can be found on line or in the school office.  For the safety of our students all volunteers must complete a criminal background check which can also be obtained in the school office.  You must present a valid driver's license or other approved form of picture identification.

If you can volunteer once a year, once a month, once a week or every day, Grandview would love to have you join our team.  Everyone has something to offer!   All volunteers receive a Volunteer Handbook and any necessary training.

Please contact David Fuller, if you have any questions or would like to learn more about Grandview's Volunteer Program.

Next time you see a Grandview Vonunteer, please take a moment to let them know how much you appreciate them.
